After you have completed your Theory Test you will be given a pass certificate which will enable you to sit you practical test within 2 years of being issued
Remember to take both parts of the Driving Licence with you to the test centre, other wise the Test will not take place, and you will lose your fee.
The Driving Test is conducted by a Driving Standards Agency (DSA) examiner.
The test lasts about 35 to 40 minutes. Before the driving part of the test starts you will be required to read a number plate at a distance of 20.5 mtrs (67 feet) or for later number plates 20mtrs (66 feet). If you are unable to read the number plate the test cannot proceed. You must also answer two Show Me Tell Me questions. They are all safety related with regard to things like tyres, lights, and vehicle checks etc.
During the driving part of the test you will be assessed on your correct use of all the car controls and your driving technique and skills. You will be required to complete two manoeuvres and may be asked to perform an emergency stop. All faults observed by the examiner are classified as 'Driving Faults', 'Serious Faults' or 'Dangerous Faults'
You will have passed if you have 15 or less driving faults and no serious or dangerous faults.
At the end of the test the examiner will tell you if you have passed or failed.
At this stage the Examiner will ask you if you would like your instructor to listen in on the debrief. He has to ask your permission because of the Data Protection Act.
The Test will be booked for you when we both feel you are ready.
